Obituary of Carl Patrick Harrity
It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Carl Patrick Harrity on Sept. 22, 2013. Carl was born in Saint John on Oct. 19, 1962, the son of the late James and Julie (Kenny) Harrity. Carl was a proud West-Sider and graduate of Saint John Vocational School. He was a lifelong member of the Army Reserve, proudly serving in the 31 Service Battalion. He was part of many honours in his career with the group, including the Freedom of the City. Following his retirement from the Reserve, Carl worked for the Corps of Commissionaires in Saint John. Family and friends will remember Carl’s wonderful sense of humour and his quick wit. He always lit up the room with his laugh, and loved to tease people and play jokes on them. He had a beautiful singing voice and could often be seen at karaoke nights and at bingo games. He was happiest with his wife Patti, the love of his life, and their family. Carl will be greatly missed by his wife, Patti and their family: daughter, Trisha Steen (Mike); son, Raymond LaKing; and grandchildren, Brittany, Ashley, Zachary and Emily; and his siblings: Pauline and Elmer; Jany and Peter; Steve and Pam; Bobby and Judy; Johnny and Alyson; Peter; Richard and Chris; Adele and Wade; Tommy and Valerie; Lisa; and Douglas and Cathy. Carl was also a favourite and much-loved uncle to his many nieces and nephews. He was pre-deceased by his parents, his sister Anna May, and his brother-in-law Clarence. Resting at Castle Funeral Home, “Fallsview Chapel”, 309 Lancaster Avenue, Saint John West, (634-1701). Visitation will take place on Monday, September 23, 2013 from 6 to 8 pm with a Legion Service at 7:00 p.m.. and Tuesday, September 24, 2013 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m.. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 12 noon on Wednesday, Sept. 25 at Our Lady of the Assumption Church, West Saint John. Interment will take place in the Holy Cross Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations in Carl’s memory may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation.
