Obituary of Rita Kane
Mrs. Rita Kane passed away peacefully at the St. John St. Stephen Nursing Home on December 24, 2014. Born in Saint John on September 21, 1930 she was a daughter of the late Michael and Agnes (Doyle) Joyce. In her younger years Rita was a Girl Guide Leader of St. Rose and took up Clogging in her later years. She is survived by her son John Kane; two daughters Jo-Ann Vincent (Lynn) of Saint John and Myra Lomax (Hal) of Little Lepreau. As well she is survived by 5 grandchildren, 3 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family. Besides her parents she was predeceased by her husband Fitz-james M. Kane; her son Thomas Kane and brothers Charles Joyce, John Joyce; sisters Pat Cooper, Grace Terris, Mildred Gogan and Audrey Joyce. At the request of the family there will be no visitation. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, December 29, 2014 from Our Lady of The Assumption Church at 12 Noon. Interment will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations made to the Alzheimer’s Society, St. John St. Stephen Nursing Home, Romero House or to the charity of donor’s choice would be greatly appreciated by the family.
