Obituary of Dorothy Boyer
On February 9, 2016 surrounded by loving family, Dorothy Boyer passed away at Rocmaura Nursing Home. Born January 22, 1925 she was the daughter of the late Bernard and Jennie (Frozel) Porter. She was a member of St. Luke's Anglican Church (North), St. Luke's ACW and a long time member of the Ladies Auxillary of the Jarvis Bay Legion Branch#53. In her earlier years Dorothy worked at the New Brunswick Protestant Orphan's Home as a care giver, and later worked at retail for K-Mart and Woolco. She loved to read, enjoyed knitting, watching game shows and the challenge of doing puzzles with her family. Dorothy will be missed by sons, Richard (Doreen), of Saint John, N.B., David (Maggie), of Rawley, N.B., Wayne (Tina Albert), of Saint John, N.B.; dauhters Margaret Boyer, of Saint John, N.B., Bonny (Danny) Craig, of Martinon, Dianne Boyer (Stephen Dodd), of Stony Plain, AB; brother Murray (Betty) Porter, of Saint John, N.B.; sister Shirley (Ronald) Prossor, of Saint John, N.B.; 18 grandchildren; 21 great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents Dorothy was predeceased by brothers Bernard and Harold; sisters Nettie MacDonald and Carlotta Ekstrom. Arrangements are under the care of Castle Funeral Home, 309 Lancaster Ave. Saint John, (634 1701). Visitation will be held on Sunday February 14, 2016 from 7 to 9 pm. A Memorial service will take place on Monday February 15, 2016 at 1:30 pm. from Castle Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will take place at Greenwood Cemetery followed by a reception at Castle Fallsview Reception Center. Donations in Dorothy's memory can be made to IWK Children's Hospital or a charity of the donor's choice.
