Obituary of Enoch Stanley "John" Craig
Craig, Enoch Stanley – Passed away at the Saint John Regional Hospital on Friday, June 27, 2014. Born and raised on the Lower West side of Saint John, September 19 1931, he was a son of the late Arthur Richard and Doris Lillian (Iliffe) Craig. Enoch, known to many as John, especially to his air force buddies, served in the Royal Canadian Air Force for 25 years as an Air Frame Technician, enjoying two tours overseas. After retirement from the RCAF he moved back to Saint John and was employed with Great West Life and the Canadian Corps of Commissionaires. In his younger years he was an avid bowler and dart player but more recently looked forward to coffee time with the men at the Lancaster Mall. He is survived by his two daughters, Mae Craig and Heather Purdy both of Saint John; siblings Evelyn Jenkins of Alberta, Elsie (Carl) Lounsbury, Leslie (Marg) Craig and David (Anita) Craig all of Saint John. He will also be remembered by family friends Anne Downing, Debra Ennis both of Saint John and Denise Williams of Dartmouth NS, whom he affectionately considered as daughters. Besides being predeceased by his parents, he was also predeceased by two brothers Arthur R. Craig Jr and George E. Craig. Arrangements are under the care of Castle “Fallsview” Funeral Home, 309 Lancaster Avenue. At the request of Enoch there will not be any visiting at the funeral home. A Graveside Service will be held on Wednesday, July 2, 2014 at 11:30 am at Greenwood Cemetery. Following the burial, family and friends are invited to a reception to be held at Castle “Fallsview” Reception Center. Remembrances may be made to the NB Heart Centre Foundation, Operation Smile Canada Foundation or charity of donor’s choice. Alternatively or additionally, fill out an organ donation card, or do something special for a loved one.
