Obituary of James Stevens
Stevens, James Kirtley The death of Mr. James K. Stevens, husband of the late Evelyn (Ogilvie) Stevens occurred on Jan. 12, 2011 at the Ridgewood Veterans Wing. Born in Ingleside on January 30, 1917, he was the son of the late Chesley and Jane (Kirtley) Stevens. Mr. Stevens, a lifelong resident of Grand Bay - Westfield was active in many roles at Grand Bay Baptist Church for many years. He also served with the RCAF. He is survived by his daughter Judy (Brian) Curry of Grand Bay – Westfield, grandchildren Chris (Carol Landry) Curry and Andrea (Carl) Gosselin, great-grandchildren Michael and Madelaine Curry, Isabelle and Sacha Gosselin. James was predeceased by his wife Evelyn (1999), son Douglas, age 19, and three siblings. Resting at Castle “Fallsview” Funeral Home, 309 Lancaster Ave. (634-1701). Visitation will take place on Friday from 2- 4, and 7- 9 p.m. The RCL will hold a Tribute to a Veteran Service on Friday at 7 p.m. The funeral service will take place on Saturday at 11 a.m. from Grand Baptist Church. Interment in Stevens Cemetery at a later date. Donations in his memory to the Grand Bay Baptist Church Benevolent Fund or a charity of the donor’s choice would be appreciated by his family.
