Obituary of Irene Holmes

It is with great sadness the family announces the passing of Irene Margaret Holmes which occurred on Thursday June 9, 2016 at her residence in Shannex Parkland in the Valley. Born September 9, 1926 she was the daughter of the late Allison and Marjorie (Land) Jones. Irene graduated with a degree to be a Dietitian from Acadia University then continued on her career for the next 50+ years at the Saint John General Hospital and the Saint John Regional Hospital. She was a proud 50+ year member of the American Dietetic Association and the New Brunswick Dietetic Association. Irene will be sadly missed by brother-in-law Leslie Holmes; sister-in-law Joan F. Jones; Nieces Carol, Diane, Darlene, Carol and Linda; nephews Bradford, Gary, Brian, Wayne, Greg and Craig; as well as long-time friends Mark and Betty Blanchard. Besides her parents Irene was predeceased by husband and love of her life Stanley; brothers Robert Jones, Ronald Jones, Ivan Jones; sister Jean Newman and niece Maureen. Resting at Castle Funeral Home, 309 Lancaster Ave, Saint John (634-1701). Visitation will be held on Tuesday June 14, 2016 from 1:00 – 3:00 pm. A Funeral Service will follow at 3:00 pm from Castle Funeral Home Chapel. The Interment will take place at Fernhill Cemetery. Donations in Irene’s memory can be made to Hillcrest Baptist Church or the charity of one’s choice
