Obituary of Lelia May Morris

Lelia May Morris passed away on Monday, June 17, 2013 at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Born on January 29, 1918. She was the daughter of the late Frank and Mary (Mallory) Cobham. Lelia was a school teacher, teaching in one room rural schools and two years in Saint John just before marriage. After marriage, Lelia taught at South Bay and Grand Bay. She retired from Inglewood School in Grand Bay in 1978. Lelia was a member of St. Giles United Church, Martinon and was a former choir member and member of the U.C.W.. She was a resident of Grand Bay-Westfield for 48 years and also a member of Can Cope for many years. She is survived by sons, Jack (Bernice) Morris, of Morrisdale, N.B., Donald (Jo Anne) Morris, of Abbotsford, B.C., Art (Linda) Morris, of Grand Bay-Westfield; daughter, Mary Lou (Robert) Whiting, of Grand Bay-Westfield; sister-in-law, Helen Morris; eight grandchildren; sixteen, great-grandchildren; three, great great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Thomas Leslie Morris; one brother, Lloyd Cobham; sister, Ruth Dunbar. Resting at Castle Funeral Home, “Fallsview Chapel”, 309 Lancaster Avenue, Saint John West, (634-1701). Visitation will take place on Wednesday, June 19, 2013 from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m.. A funeral service will be held on Thursday, June 20, 2013 at 11:00 a.m from Castle Funeral Home. Interment will take place in the Cedar Hill Extension Cemetery. There will be a reception held at the Fallsview Family Reception Center following the interment. Donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or a charity of the donor’s choice.
