Obituary of Grace Ida Kern

Surrounded by her family Grace Ida Kern passed away peacefully on Sunday January 22, 2017 at Bobby’s Hospice. Born December 26, 1925 she was the daughter of the late Fred and Lena (MacKenzie) O’Neal. Grace was passionately involved in IODE and Girl Guides of Canada for the majority of her adult life. She was a member of numerous groups and organizations, and was an original member of Hillcrest Baptist Church. The family would like to express their thanks and appreciation to Riley’s Home Care, Bobby’s Hospice and the numerous medical professionals involved with her care.Grace will be forever loved and missed by son Bazin (Terry Nagle) Kern of Saint John, NB; daughters Patricia (Brian) Dorrans of Saint John, NB and Pamela (Larry) Godin of Medicine Hat, AB; grandchildren John Godin, Darren Godin, Shannon Calder, Amanda Mills, Devin Dorrans, Bazin Jr. Kern, Ashley Kern; 12 great grandchildren; 2 great great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. Besides her parents Grace was predeceased in 1993 by her husband of 46 years John Kern. Resting at Castle Funeral Home, 309 Lancaster Ave, Saint John (634-1701). Visitation will be held on Tuesday January 24, 2017 from 2:00pm – 8:00pm. A Funeral Service will be held from Hillcrest Baptist Church on Wednesday January 25, 2017 at 11:00 am. Donations in Grace’s memory can be made to Hillcrest Baptist Church or Bobby’s Hospice.
