Obituary of Romeo Joseph St.Cyr

It is with heavy hearts and great sadness that the family of Romeo St.Cyr announce his passing at the age of 85 on Sunday, Jan 15, 2017 at Bobby’s Hospice. Romeo was born on May 17, 1931 on a large farm in Chapeau, Quebec. He was the son of the late Moise Edmond and Mary (Chaput) St.Cyr. Romeo moved to Pembroke, Ontario in his mid twenties where he met the love of his life Yvonne Babineau. After a whirlwind three month courtship they married, had a child, moved to New Brunswick and continued to expand their family. Romeo and Yvonne built a close family of five children and taught them family values of love, honesty, independence and responsibility. Their family travelled often and moved often. Romeo was a devoted family man and passed on his joy for life to his family. He enjoyed travelling, camping and games of chance. Romeo was a man of high Christian devotion and for many years was in the Knights of Columbus local 6770 reaching his Fourth Degree designation. Romeo loved people and loved to laugh. Romeo worked as a young man farming and logging. He spent most of his working career as a salesman. After working for Pembroke Food Catering, Connors Brothers and Fuller Brush, Romeo spent 27 years at Electrolux Canada where he was proud to be named top salesman for numerous years. He loved to share his many vibrant stories and friendships from his life on the road as a travelling salesman. Romeo retired from sales after suffering a stroke in 1992. Keeping with his happy-go-lucky attitude for life Romeo found engaging ways to occupy his time with family, woodworking and projects around the house. Romeo is survived by his wife of 57 years Yvonne Mary (Babineau); daughters Henriette (Greg) Hull, Mary (Jean Guy) St.Cyr; sons Arthur (Dianne) St.Cyr and John (Karen) St.Cyr; grandchildren April Hull-Andrews, Robin Hull-Vautour, Holly Hull, Jeremy Romeo St.Cyr; and numerous great grandchildren.
