Obituary of Eleanor "Ann" Whipple

It is with sadness that the family of Eleanor Anna (Ann) Whipple wish to announce her death at the Carleton-Kirk Lodge on April 7, 2011. Ann was born in Saint John on June 27, 1930, the daughter of the late Robert and Grace (Allingham) Irving. Ann is the wife of 62 years to Kenneth B. Whipple of Saint John. Ann and Ken lived for the past 20 years in McDonald's Point, her favourite place on earth. Prior to that they lived and raised their family in Saint John. Ann attended Netherwood School for Girls in Rothesay, NB, graduated from Saint John High School and Mount Allison University. She enjoyed many sports including boating, bowling and competitive curling. She was a volunteer with the South Bay School and Church, the Heart Foundation and many other organizations. Her greatest passion, besides her family, was Boston Red Sox Baseball and enjoyed many trips to Fenway. Ann is survived husband Kenneth, daughters; Beverlie (Roger) Gaudet and Judith “Judy” Whipple of Saint John, brother-in-law Murray Whipple, two grandchildren; Brad Gaudet of Ottawa and Karen Gaudet of Saint John, two great-grand children; Jessica and Malachi Gaudet of Saint John as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins. Besides her parents she is predeceased by her two sons, Robert “Bobby” Whipple and John David Whipple. Resting at Castle “Fallsview” Funeral Home 309 Lancaster Ave. Saint John West (634-1701) with visiting on Sunday, 2-4 p.m. The funeral service will be held on Monday at 2:00 p.m. at Carleton-Kirk United Church, 1 Carleton Kirk Pl. Interment will be in Cedar Hill Extension Cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations to the Judy Whipple Family Bursary, Carleton-Kirk Lodge Palliative Care Room Fund or the Alzheimer’s Foundation would be appreciated by her family.
