Obituary of Bessie Briggs
On February 4th, 2014, Mrs. Bessie B. Briggs, beloved wife of over 60 years to the late Charles E. Briggs, passed away peacefully at Loch Lomond Villa, Saint John. Born in Emmerson, NB., she was the daughter of the late Venie and Enid (Fairfield) Chapman. Bessie retired from the dietary dept. of the DVA Hospital. She was a member of RCL Branch 69 Ladies Auxiliary and was known to be a great dart player in her day. (rumor has it, she once doubled out on a bulls eye). Bessie is survived by daughter Betty McNulty, Saint John, sister Doris MacDonald, Nackawic, granddaughters Stacey McNulty, Ottawa, and Melissa McNulty, Texas, grandsons Shawn and Jason Briggs, both of Saint John and several special nieces and nephews. In addition to her loving husband Charlie, Bessie was predeceased by her sons Gerald in 1952 and Marvin in 1988, as well as her brother James and sisters Viola and Jennie. Resting at Castle “Fallsview” Funeral Home, 309 Lancaster Ave. Saint John, NB, with visitation on Thursday, February 6th, 2014 from 6:00 - 9:00 pm. The Royal Canadian Legion Branch #69 will hold a Tribute Service for Bessie on Thursday February 6th, at 7:00 pm. The Funeral Service will be held at Castle “Fallsview” Chapel at 11:00 am on Friday, February 7th, 2014. Interment to follow in Greenwood Cemetery. Donations in Bessie’s memory may be made to The Royal Canadian Legion Branch 69, Ladies Auxiliary or a charity of the donor’s choice. Online condolences can be made at www.castlefh.com
