Obituary of Frederick McRae
It is with deep sorrow the family announces the death of Fred McRae which occurred on Tuesday, March 28, 2017 at Bobby’s Hospice. Fred was born on October 21, 1947 and was the son of Hartley Robert McRae and Johanna Maria Van de Ven. Fred had joined the Army at the age of 17 in 1964 and finished in 1967. After the Army, Fred went to community college and took sheet metal. He then worked at Northern Industries, the Dry Dock, and later security before retiring. Fred was also an avid snooker player. He is survived by son Dean (Linda) of Saint John, and two grandchildren Alyson and Kyle McRae. Fred was predeceased by his parents.Arrangements are under the care of Castle Funeral Home, 309 Lancaster Ave, Saint John (634-1701). Visitation will be held on Friday, March 31, 2017 from 11:00am – 1:00pm at Castle Funeral Home. A Memorial Service will be held from Castle Funeral Home on Friday, March 31, 2017 at 1:00pm. Donations in Fred’s memory can be made to the Bobby’s Hospice, the Canadian Cancer Society or the charity of one’s choice.
