Obituary of J. McIntyre

Joseph Lee McIntyre passed away unexpectedly at home on Friday, January 20, 2012. Born on June 28, 1919, in Kouchibouguac, NB he was the son of the late Larry and Emma (Carter) McIntyre. Loving husband of Stella (Daley) McIntyre. He was a veteran of the Second World War serving as a Lieutenant in France, Italy, Sicily, Holland, England and Germany. After his discharge in 1946 he worked for Ford Motor Co. in Saint John until his retirement in 1960. He was an honorary life member of the Knights of Columbus and also a member of the Royal Canadian Legion. In his younger years he was an avid bowler and gardener. He will be sadly missed by his wife of 65 years, Stella; three sons, Kenneth (Dawn), of Riverview, NB, Barry and Dale, both of Saint John, NB; brother, Herb (Margie), of London Ont.; four grandchildren, Shelley Brown, Gregory (Nicole), Heather McIntyre Dixon and Peter (Aimiee); nine great grandchildren, Mason, Taylor, Parker, Ava, Isabella, Ethan, Gavin, Gabriel and Amelia. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his grandson, Geoffrey McIntyre (1973); seven brothers, Martin, John, Ralph, Walter, George, Clarence and Bob and two sisters, Loretta Morley and Mary McIntyre. Resting at Castle Funeral Home, “Fallsview Chapel”, 309 Lancaster Avenue, Saint John West (634-1701) visitation will take place on Sunday, January 22, 2012 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Monday, January 23, 2012 from Our Lady of the Assumption Church at 12:00 p.m. A reception will be held at the Fallsview Family Reception Center, following the service. Interment will take place at Holy Cross Cemetery, at a later date. Donations, in memory of Lee, may be made to the Assumption Building Fund or a charity of a donor’s choice.
