To Margaret's Family. I met Margaret several years ago when you first opened the Dufferin Inn. I would meet her walking, sometimes very early in the morning, and some times stopped to chat. Then I would often see her with Mario at Saint's Rest Beech. Mario was just a very little boy then. What a nice, nice lady.I was so sad to read of her passing. My sincerest thoughts and prayers are with.

Axel, Mario, and family,Margret truly whetted the appetite of our city, for your glorious food, to be sure, Axel; but also for something deeper. Leading by a willful example, she ignited our region to strive for excellence, and to make every opportunity one in which we hungered for more.Margret inspired an insatiable appetite for Saint John to surpass our potential, and injected an unmatched style into the culture of our community. To Axel and Mario, I know words cannot help at this time, and how sad we all are but please know what a special lady Margret was to all of us. I’ll admit that she was a “force” in our business and I was slightly scared and always very much in awe of her for sure… The years flew by and she was always there to count on for anything, always a laugh or a story. We Scorpios have to stick together eh! I enjoyed many birthday cakes she created for me. I’ll treasure our last wine and cheese nibble shared with you both in November at the inn, snuggled in the front room… my thoughts are with you both at this time… ted

Written By Margaret Leahey Bailey After Attending Margret's Funeral Today, January 9th, 2014Lisa Hrabluk what a great wordsmith you are...Lisa you put it perfectly--"One final lunch with Margret." The Funeral was such a very special celebration of Margret's life. My heart broke for Axel and Mario. But I hope they were able to feel all the love in that beautiful Assumption Church on the West Side of Saint John (my Dad's childhood Church)...It was packed with people who loved Margret, Axel and Mario...Margret could not have had a better son or a better husband...And her sister Gerta (from Germany) was there too. Monsignor Brian Sheen, was exceptional, as always...I just thank God I went to her Funeral. It was very hard but I am so grateful I went. It meant so very much. And how very classy of Axel and Mario to greet all the mourners as they arrived at the Church and to thank them, as they left after the Funeral Mass. They were caring about us, when they were hurting so very much. I will never forget that. And I will never forget Margret. No one will Mario.

She had an insatiable ambition, she knew what she wanted and she wasn’t scared to go for it! She was an inspiration to every woman in business. I never got to thank Margaret for everything that she did for me but I hope that she understood how much I valued my time working for her. Please accept my heartfelt condolences Axel and Mario. Dear Axel and Mario,Whether in meetings or at one of your spectacular restaurants; what struck me about Margaret - her clarity about what needed to be done, and her willingness to do it. One one occasion I asked Margaret to support an event I was involved with. Rather than making a donation, or telling me to hit the street, Margaret baked the most amazing cake that I was able to raffle as part of a silent auction. This cake made money. What really impressed me though was her willingness to take this on, when she had her hands full to overflowing. Generous and capable. When I'd encounter Margaret and her family was around; what struck me was the unmistakable look of adoration. Axel and Mario, although I don't know your family well; I know how much she loved you both.I am very sorry for your tremendous loss. Wishing you moments of happiness and strength in the days ahead.

Margret was always so kind to my family when they were visiting and my Dad really looked forward to seeing her when he came to visit. Margret was so sweet when she made him his own special plate of chanterelles. Despite his Alzheimer's disease, he hasn't forgotton that simple act of kindness, that was Margret.
