Obituary of Rita Blizzard
The death of Rita, wife of the late Bert William Blizzard occurred on May 29, 2011 at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Born in Saint John in 1912 she was the daughter of the late William Rackley and Ida (McKillop) Rackley. Rita will be remembered by her sons Bert (Marguarite), Paul (Diane); daughters Audrey McAuley, Patricia Thorne; grandchildren Shirley, Dougie, Wanda, Tony, Theresa, Keith, James “Kirk”, Holly, Shelly, Scott, Donna, Gary, and David. Rita will also be remembered by many great grandchildren, great great grandchildren, nephews, nieces, extended family and friends. Besides her parents and husband, Rita was predeceased by her siblings Frank, William, Blair, John, Isabel, and Ethel; and son Dougie. Rita was born and raised in West Saint John (Lancaster). She was an avid and active member of Saint George's Anglican Church, and a member of the I.O.D.E. She worked for District 8 School Board (Beaconsfield School) for many years. Her husband Bert drove city bus for many years prior to their retirements. Resting at Castle “Fallsview” Funeral Home 309 Lancaster Ave. Saint John West (634-1701) with visiting on Tuesday May 31, from 2-4, and 7-9 p.m. The funeral service will be held on Wednesday June 1, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. at Castle “Fallsview” Funeral Home. The interment will follow in Greenwood Cemetery and a reception in the Fallsview Family reception Centre. The family would like to thank the staff at Extra Mural for the kindness extended to Mom during her brief illness. Donations in Rita's name may be made to Saint George's Anglican Church or the charity of one's choice.
