Obituary of Joan McKiel

After a courageous battle with cancer, the death of Joan occurred on Saturday April 9, 2011 at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Born in Saint John on August 14, 1948 she was the wife of the late Wally McKiel and the daughter of the late Allan J. MacEachern and Dorothy B. (Howe) MacEachern Joan will be lovingly remembered by her mother Dorothy; daughter Shelley (Rob) Dowe; son Peter Finlay; grandchildren Ashley (Jessie), Bailey, Rieley, Alex, and Kendra; brother Wayne (Dianna); companion Lloyd Hayward ; brothers and sisters in law Doug (Carol), Judy(Brian) Brian (Barbara), Chris (Linda), Larry, and Donnie. Joan will also be missed by many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. Joan was predeceased by her father Allan; husband Wally; sisters in law Barbie, and Sandra. Joan worked at K-Mart and Zellers for many years, retiring in 2007. She was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary Branch 69. She enjoyed bowling, bingo, and trips to casinos. Joan enjoyed life, her kindness and laughter will be missed by everyone. Resting at Castle “Fallsview” Funeral Home 309 Lancaster Ave. Saint John West (634-1701) with visiting on Tuesday, April 12, 2011 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. A Tribute to a Veteran Service will be held at 7:00 pm. Tuesday. The funeral service will be held on Wednesday, April 13, 2011 at 11 a.m. at Castle Funeral Home. The interment will follow at Greenwood Cemetery, and a reception at Royal Canadian Legion Branch 69. The family would like to thank Margie for all the love and friendship shown to Mom. We would also like to thank Dr. Irving and the staff of 5CS Saint John Regional Hospital for all their care and kindness during this difficult time.
