Mitton, Mary Elizabeth (Reid) The death of Mary Elizabeth (Reid) Mitton occurred on May 7, 2012 at the Carleton-Kirk Lodge. She was born on August 8, 1920 in Saint John, the daughter of the late Julia (Peters) and David Reid. She is survived by son, David (Linda) Mitton and daughter, Barbara (George) Burchill, of Saint John; brother, William (Nora) Reid, of Halifax; sister-in-laws, Kathleen Hart, of Moncton and Beryl Mitton, of Maui, Hawaii. She is also survived by grandchildren, Dr. Krista Burchill (Mark Dee), Eric (Donna Morykot) Burchill, Jennifer (Jason) Dines and Sarah Kirkbride. She was Grammie Mitt to 5 great grandchildren and Aunt Mary to several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband of 69 years, Charles Mitton. Also predeceased by sister, Edith Reid, sister-in-law, Helen Cole and her husband Lloyd Cole, brother-in-law, David Grant Mitton and brother-in-law, James Hart. She was a lifelong resident of West Saint John and attended New Albert and Saint John High Schools. A member of the Carleton-Kirk United Church and life member of the UCW. A charter member of the Ladies Branch of Carleton Curling Club. Meals on Wheels volunteer with her husband for over 25 years. Enjoyed her years at the Aquatic Center with her friends. She was a wonderful hostess, entertaining family and friends at home on Maple Row and at ``Mary`s Place`` on the Washademoak Lake. Arrangements have been entrusted to Castle Funeral Home, ``Fallsview Chapel``, 309 Lancaster Avenue, Saint John West (634-1701) visitation will take place on Friday, May 11, 2012 from 3-8 p.m. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, May 12, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. from Carleton-Kirk United Church, with visiting an hour prior to the service at the church. Interment to follow at Greenwood Cemetery. A reception will be held at the Carleton-Kirk United Church, following the interment. Donations, in memory of Mary, may be made to the Carleton-Kirk Lodge Fund, Carleton-Kirk United Church or a charity of the donor`s choice.
