I'm so sorry in just hearing of the passing of Sonja. Sonja and my mother, Irene Goodwin used to work together at the Provincial Hospital years ago. I've met Sonja several times over the pass years when I was with my mom or when they both were at the Hospital reunions, she was always full of life, stories and laughter. Sonja was a very dear person which I will remember dearly, how she gave me sincere support last June 22, 2012 when my mother pass away. My heartfelt condolences to her family on her death. RIP...and let God's hand be with you always Sonja.

Sonja, although we only worked together for a couple of years on the infirmary (Ward 5) at Centracare you left a lasting impression and I was so sad to hear of your recent passing. I was a brand new know-nothing nurse and you were the experienced veteran showing me the ropes. I remember your kindness, professionalism and especially your terrific sense of humour. You took loving care of the patients and at the end of the workday, you always had fascinating stories to tell about the "old days" at the hospital , your judo training, your dogs and especially your beloved husband. The group of people on that unit were always more like family than colleagues and you were at the heart of it all. I feel privileged to have known you and to have been included in that circle. I know you will always be remembered not just by me, but by the whole Ward 5 crew - rest in peace. Tamryn

Very, very sad to read of Sonja's passing. Always a joy to see her, very uplifting. I was fortunate to be a student of Sonja and Bill for judo back in 1969 for over 10 years and was always excited to run into them. One winter's night after judo, Sonja had taught the class alone and had taken the bus to judo. We all went to MRA's for cherry cokes and sang on the bus all the way home. She was a joyous gift as a great friend that I'll always be grateful for.

Sonja and I were colleagues at Centracare and were best friends for 49 years. I am deeply saddened by her death. She came to visit on the west coast some years ago and we cherish the memories of her stay with us, above all the laughter. She was a true humanitarian and a dear dear friend. I will miss her dearly.

I am so sorry to hear that Mrs. Naves has passed away. I came to know her when I was principal at Hazen-White/St.Francis School. Each Septemer she would arrive with her car's trunk overflowing with school supplies for the children. She was so unassuming and humble, a kind soul who thought of others, expecting nothing in return. Rest peacefully.

Sonja has been my friend for thirty years. She welcomed me to ward five at Centracare , and to Canada as a new import from the UK. We worked hard together but we laughed and laughed every day. Those are my memories of Sonja, spending time with the good friends that we shared ,and laughing. She was an elegant lady, I will miss her.

We were so sorry to hear of the passing of Sonja..She was a wonderful lady and always so pleasant..My mother/mother in law/nana recently passed away, Sonya Fox (Sunny) and they were friends for many many years. She always thought so highly of Sonja..I have to say that I (Judy) now hold in my possession a lot of angels that Sonja gave to Sunny over the years for gifts. It is with great sadness to hear the news of Sonja's passing. Sonja`s contribution to the sport of judo, as she mentored so many young girls, was special. She was an exceptional person and a mentor to me. Her positive spirit was infectious and I could only be inspired after a quick little chat or visit. Sonja's support, kindness and encouragement over the years was a constant to my husband and I. I was sad to see in the newspaper today about a loss of a great woman. I worked with Sonja at Centracare and considered her not only a colleague but a friend as well. I feel very fortunate to have cross paths with this wonderful lady and I will always remember her fondly. She had a friendly personality and always showed that she was enjoying her life.
