Obituary of James "Jim" Levine

Levine, James “Jim” Michael Passed away on Sunday, August 05, 2012 at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Born on September 18, 1934 in Saint John, NB. He was the son of the late Leon and Margaret Ann (Daley) Lavigne. Loving husband of Nancy (Thorne) Levine. Jim joined the Peace Corps for the UN in 1961 and spent a year in Egypt. He worked for Ocean Steel for 33 years, before retiring. Jim loved the outdoors and enjoyed fishing, hunting and gardening. He was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch #69 and was an avid volunteer there, organizing the Senior Sunday Darts. Jim was a selfless man and would do anything for anyone. He will be sadly missed by his wife, Nancy; sons, Jim (Gayle) Lavigne and Steven (Jean) Levine; grandchildren, Jared Lavigne and Nicholas Lavigne, of Montreal, Que. and Grampy`s princess, Jenifer Levine, of Kitchener, Ont. and Colin Levine; sisters, Shirley (Norman) Dungey, of Beeton, Ont. and Helen, of Toronto, Ont.; best friend, Charlie “Tuna” Wallace and many nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his brother, Henry and sister, Betty. Resting at Castle Funeral Home, “Fallsview Chapel”, 309 Lancaster Avenue, Saint John West, (634-1701) visitation will be held on Wednesday, August 08, 2012 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. with a Legion Service at 7:00 p.m. A funeral service will be held on Thursday, August 09, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. from Castle Funeral Home. There will be a reception at the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 69, following the service. Donations, in memory of Jim, may be made to Bobby`s Hospice or a charity of the donor`s choice.
