Obituary of Kenneth Mawhinney
Kenneth Russell Mawhinney. After a period of illness, Ken passed away on Thursday, July 31st, 2014, at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Born in Toronto on May 25th, 1927, he was the son of the late Russell and Elizabeth (Garlick) Mawhinney. Ken was a dedicated family man and a fisherman for 50 years, and lived most of his life in Mace’s Bay. He was a Trustee and an active member of the Mace’s Bay United Baptist Church, and a caretaker and director of the Mace’s Bay Cemetery for many years. He was also a member of the Fundy Bay Seniors Club and an avid gardener. Ken is survived by his son Warren Mawhinney (Lynn) of Keswick Ridge, NB, his daughter Rebecca Mawhinney (Jarvis) of Upper Coverdale, NB, two grandsons Sheridan and Timothy (Natalie). In addition to his parents, Ken was predeceased by his loving wife Margaret Rebecca “Mardy” (McLachlan) Mawhinney, and a sister Margaret Justason By request of the family, there will be no visitation at the funeral home. However, the funeral service for all those wishing to attend will be held on Tuesday, August 5th, 2014 at 2:00 pm. at Castle “Fallsview” Funeral Home Chapel, followed by interment in the Mace’s Bay Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Ken to a charity of the donor’s choice would be appreciated by the family.
