Obituary of Wayne Douglas Sprague
With profound sadness the family announces Wayne's passing on Sunday, January 31, 2016. Born on August 23, 1946, he was the son of Gordon and Florence Sprague. Wayne lived most of his life in Saint John and prior to his retirement in 2003, he worked at Irving Pulp and Paper for 31 years. Wayne loved the outdoors, fishing, hunting and camping and over the years he enjoyed playing hockey, curling, bowling, golfing and was an avid harness racing driver for over 20 years. He was a former member of Carleton Curling Club, Westfield Golf and Country Club and the USTA.Left to mourn are his wife Lois (Evans), daughters Claressa (Andrew) Smith and Heather (Paul) Gagnon, grandchildren Abby, Sarah, Finn and Lily, his brother James (Joye) Sprague, his aunt Ruth, several nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends.Cremation has taken place. Visitation at Castle Funeral Home on Wednesday, February 3rd from 2-4 and 7-9 with a funeral service from Castle Funeral Chapel on Thursday, February 4th at 11:00 am with Pastor Brenda Schyf officiating. The family would like to thank Wayne’s excellent medical team of doctors, Oncology Department, Extra Mural Services and the Palliative Care Team with special thanks to the staff and volunteers of Bobby's Hospice for the exceptional care and support given to Wayne and his family. Donations to Bobby's Hospice or Kingsway Care Centre in Wayne's memory would be appreciated.
