Dear Lora -- we are so sorry to hear of Walter's passing. Although we didn't meet you till we started snowbirding in Florida, we felt like we'd always known you both. Walter was always so happy with a devilish twinkle in his eye, a knack to make you smile and a wonderful sense of humour. Please accept our sincere condolences for you and your family -- celebrate the happy times and memories as he would want you to. Karen & Richard

We are very proud and feel very blessed to be part of the Brown family. We have enjoyed family visits and camping trips in the Rocky Mountains of Alberta and British Columbia. We will always remember our trip to Mount Robson in the middle of a province wide forest fire and Walter's favorite song Waltzing with Bears. May he rest in peace. Our deepest sympathies are with you and your family. Stewart, Margaret, Darren and Jacqueline Holder

Dear Walter, the world is blessed with the legacy you left us. A wife, a son and a daughter. We are so fortunate to have your son not only as a husband to our daughter but as a wonderful father to our grandchildren and a thoughtful and caring son-in-law, for that we are forever grateful. Both you and Lora have raised a wonderful son, you should be very proud. Our thoughts and prayers go out to the Brown family at this time. Lora, Bruce and Brenda, our deepest condolences

Was saddened to read in todays paper of walters passing. Walter was always a character, always a force to recon with, a good sense of humour fun to work with and never a dull shift. I had the pleasure of working with him at cn as a fellow carman and you knew it was going to be a lively shift when walter came to relieve vacations........i think every time we worked together we both gained weight.......too many takeouts on rothesay avenue with the smell drifting across the rail yard temping two chubby carmen, and it was always '' dont tell laura what i ate here tonight''....... how many times we ran over to deluxe fries i cant count but it was always an occassion with walter and you never went anywhere that he knew everyone. Anyone that knew walter liked him and remembered him and i will be one of those people.......R.I.P. my sympathies to the family who he always liked to talk about........

Lora, Bruce, Brenda, and the entire Brown Family, Words can do so little to ease the pain associated with the passing of a such a dear loved one, but know that each of you are in my thoughts and prayers. Walter, once known as the 'candy man', will be sorely missed, but our memories of his gregarious character and playful nature shall live-on in each of us. Your one-time next door neighbour and now distant friend, Kris

Dear Lora & Bruce & Brenda & families It was of great sadness that I read of Walter's passing. I will not soon forget all the years & memories our families shared together at the trailer rallies for the Loyalist Trailer Club - Walter was our original CANDY MAN - I know that even today the kids that attended the rallies cherished their beloved Candy Man - I remember that Walter would look after the kids from morning til night and you never had to wonder where the kids were as long as Walter was playing with them - he had the kids running all day looking for anything he could think of - I remember him asking the kids to get my belt on one particular occasion & I couldn't outrun them all so Walter did get my belt. He was kind & generous to all of the kids and that is why they still remember him to this day. We had some fun times together at the rallies for several years & shared some good times at the Pine Cone Trailer Park on trips to there. We used to sing around the campfires together & if someone didn't recognize the song we were singing, Walter would tell them that I wrote it. Those memories I will never soon forget & I will never forget that smiling face and his recognizable voice - I am sure he will be sadly missed by all of you and by all of us who knew him.
