Obituary of Elsie Small

Elsie Teresa (Melanson) Small, wife of Floyd Small, passed away on Thursday, August 15 at the Kennebec Manor. She was born on March 3, 1930 to the late Albert Melanson and Delima (Guimond) Melanson in Saint John, N.B. She was the owner and operator of the Rainbow Beauty Salon on Main Street (North End). She was a member of the Bethany Independent Baptist Church. In addition to her husband Floyd Small, Elsie is survived by her sons Bradley (Elaine) Small and David Small of Maces Bay; brothers Albert (Rita) Melanson of Lepreau, N.B., Bill (Paulett) Melanson of Musquash, N.B., and Ronald (Shirley) Melanson of Wellsford, N.B.; sisters May Camick of Maces Bay and Elizabeth Gormley of Shannon, N.B. Elsie has five grandchildren: Katie (Keith) Smith of Maces Bay, Joel Small of Maces Bay, Jillian Small of Maces Bay, Emily Small of Maces Bay, and Sam Small of Maces Bay. She also has one great-grandchild: Brooklyn Smith of Maces Bay. Elsie was predeceased by her brother Elmer Melanson and her sister Elda Armstrong. Resting at Castle Funeral Home, “Fallsview Chapel”, 309 Lancaster Avenue, Saint John West, (634-1701). Visitation will take place on Sunday, August 18th from 7-9 p.m. and Monday, August 19th from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m at Fallsview Chapel. The funeral service will take place on Tuesday, August 20th at 11:00 a.m. at the Bethany Independent Baptist Church. Interment will take place in Maces Bay Cemetery. A reception will follow the service at Bethany Independent Baptist Church. Donations to the donor’s charity of choice would be greatly appreciated. Elsie’s family would like to thank all the staff of Kennebec Manor for all their kind support of Elsie and continued care and support of our dad.
