My condolences, wishing you peace, comfort, courage, and lots of love at this time of sorrow.
I didn't really get to know my Aunt Lona until I lived with her in Calgary. I am forever grateful that she took me in but also that it gave me a chance to know her better. She took me to Spruce Meadows one time, which was very special to me. In the evenings we would watch tv and chat. I remember one time she said that she could tell I was a "Day" I took that as a compliment.

Dear Heather,
What I will remember about Lona (or Mrs. Day as I called her for so much of my early life) is her love for antique books, cats, and her daughters. I was truly blessed that she choose to share all three of those loves with me.
As a little girl I also remember being a bit more afraid to disappoint her than my own mom. When you and I would get up to our crazy adventures, and one of us got hurt (a more common occurrence than I care to admit) I dreaded having to go get bandaged up by Lona. She was great at it, but I hated that we were back again for wound cleaning and a bandaid.
All my love and thoughts are with you in these sad times.

Thank you Josie for all your kindness through this.
Mum had a way about her few words and a look commanded respect, having boundaries was caring, imagine how many injuries we could have ended up with if we didn't have her as our conscious? Yes, she was great at the whole bandaging and wound cleaning, she could have worked at the Red Cross with all the training she had with us two. Not Janet just us :)

Lona or Moma as her grandson called her, will be deeply missed.
