Obituary of Philomena Goodlad
The family of Philomena Goodlad, 93 of Oromocto shares the sad news her peaceful passing on Saturday, January 29, 2022 in hospital at Fredericton N.B.
Born on September 10, 1928, in Wexford, Republic of Ireland. She was the daughter of Richard and Katherine Keane. Predeceased by her husband of 58 years; Terence Stuart, infant son Sean Dermot and three brothers and a sister.
She will be greatly missed by her daughter Kathleen and husband Robert Ranger of Kemptville, ON and son Kevin and wife Brenda Goodlad of Middleton, N.S., grandchildren; Eric Ranger, Martin Goodlad, Stuart Goodlad, Laura Smith and Nicolas.
Her latest thrills were her 8 great grandchildren. Their joyous adventures easily eclipsed her last 30 years of International Master’s Athletic success. Her many Race Walking, Running, Swimming and Cycling events culminated as a member of Triathlon Canada in Montreal 1999 for The Worlds and earned her recognition in Oromocto’s noted Wall of Fame. Sharing many trips and competitions with her husband Terry was the gravy of their senior years. Encouraging others to exceed their expectations was her greatest thrill and earned her numerous invitations to many global competitions.
Extended family and friends across Canada, the UK also from Maine to California will miss her stories of the family in the “Old Country”. Her skills as a Red Seal Cook and Baker made her more famous than winning the 1st title of Mrs Oromocto in 1973. Locally she was a generous volunteer and enthusiastic organizer for charity events. Everyone loved her Birthday Card Wishes with “Coffee Money” tucked inside for a sweet treat later. Not everybody was lucky enough to be given a generous picnic buffet for every little trip.
Donations to your Heart and Stroke Fund would please Phyllis tremendously. Until we meet again - May the Lord Hold You In The Palm Of His Hand.
