Obituary of Joseph Gerard Richard
Joseph ‘Joe’ Gerard Richard passed away peacefully on Sunday, December 5, 2021, at Upper River Valley Hospital. Joe was born on April 16, 1952 in Saint John, NB to the late Edgar and Natalie (Daigle) Richard.
Joe moved to Winnipeg in 1985 where he began his long-haultruck driving career and met his best friend Joe Keenan in 1986. Joe was a professional long haul truck driver travelling throughout North America, he ran double team service and trained in excess 50 drivers. He was a unique teacher. Joe was recognized for accumulating 3 million safe driving miles.
Joe was a quiet and reserved man who was proud of his family. Joe enjoyed rock music, playing cards, gambling, and reading.
Joe is survived by his son Wayne Perry, aunt Mary Ann and her husband Pat Burton, and many friends at Ayr Motor Express in Woodstock.
Joe is predeceased by his parents, brother George Richard, sister Jean Richard, and dear cousin Ernest Daigle.
Arrangements are under the care of Castle Fallsview Funeral Home, 309 Lancaster Ave, Saint John, NB E2M 2L3, 506-634-1701. A Memorial Service will be held from Castle FallsviewChapel on Saturday, December 18, 2021 at 10:30 AM. Interment will follow in Holy Cross Cemetery. Donations in Joe’s memory can be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or the charity of the donor’s choice.
Due to Covid-19 health measures placed on indoor gatherings by the Government of New Brunswick, all of those, 12 and over, attending the Memorial Service will be required to show proof of vaccination and a piece of government issued ID, or proof of medical exemption.
