Obituary of Mildred Lillian Hamilton
Mildred Lillian (Burnett) Hamilton in her 100th year, passed away peacefully on Friday, November 19, 2021 at the Loch Lomond Villa with family by her side. Mildred was born in Saint John, NB on February 17, 1922 to the late George and Marie (Desroches) Burnett.
Mildred is survived by her daughter Ruth Capson and her husband Daryl, daughter in law Elizabeth Hamilton, five grandchildren; Debra, Heather, Alison, Scott and Shelley, nine great-grandchildren; Michael, Jacob, Polly, Alec, Ethan, Lucas, Nicholas, Samantha and Ivy, and many nieces and nephews.
Mildred is predeceased by her parents, husband Basil Sr., son Basil Jr., 7 brothers and 6 sisters.
Mildred was a lifetime member of the Ladies Auxiliary Branch #69 and long-time member of the Bowlarama ladies bowling league. She was a great quilter and loved to knit; Mildred made amazing socks and mitts. She also enjoyed playing bingo. Mildred was a lifelong Westsider and enjoyed taking “trips to nowhere” with her children.
Resting at Castle “Fallsview” Funeral Home, 309 Lancaster Avenue, Saint John, NB E2M 2L3. Visitation will be held on Monday, November 22, 2021 from 11:00 AM- 1:00 PM. A Celebration of Mildred’s Life will follow at 1:00 PM in Castle “Fallsview” Chapel. Interment will take place in Cedar Hill Extension Cemetery. Donations in Mildred’s memory can be made to the Royal Canadian Legion Branch #69. Online condolences can be made at www.castlefh.ca
Due to Covid-19 health measures placed on indoor gatherings by the Government of New Brunswick, all of those, 12 and over, attending the Visitation and Funeral Service will be required to show proof of vaccination and a piece of government issued ID, or proof of medical exemption.
A Legion Tribute service will be held on Monday, November 22, 2021 at Castle 'Fallsview" Funeral Home at 11:30 am.
