Obituary of Sandra Lee Oliver
It is with great sorrow that we announce the passing of our wife, mom, grandmother and great grandmother on Tuesday, June 29, 2021 to join her lost loved ones and our Heavenly Father. She was born in Niagara Falls, ONT and was an only child of Sophie (Melnyk) and Private Lee Johnson.
Sandra married Norman young, and they raised their five children in Saint John with lots of fun times and holiday celebrations held at the camp they built by hand in Pocologan. As a nan, she never missed an opportunity to hand a toonie to her grandchildren. Sandra had a true talent for knitting and crocheting; creating many quilts and sweaters to be enjoyed and treasured. Family from Johnson Settlement and Canterbury held a special spot for Sandra. One could count on a game of cards breaking out after bingo of course.
Sandra is survived by her husband Norman and kids; Dawn (Lorne), Deanna (Philip), Norma (Chris), Doug (Wanda) and Jean (Scott), her grandkids; Deanna, Lee, Jacob, Jessica, Alyson, Andrew, Mitchel, Brad and Justin, great grandkids; Austin, Sophia, Aubrey, William, Ryan, and Alyssa, sister in Law Lois and John McHarg.
Sandra was predeceased by her parents, parents in law- Jean and William Oliver and her chosen siblings and cousins Audrey, Barb and Melvin.
The family would like to thank Bobby’s Hospice for all the care and compassion they gave to Sandra during her time there.
Arrangements are under the care of Castle Funeral Home, 309 Lancaster Avenue, Saint John, NB E2M 2L3 506-634-1701. A Private Graveside Service will be held in Lorneville Cemetery. Donations in Sandra’s memory can be made to Bobby’s Hospice, Canadian Cancer Society or the charity of the donor’s choice. Online condolences can be made at www.castlefh.com.
