Obituary of Geskeem Weabury

It is with great sadness that the family of Geskeem Weabury announce his passing, peacefully, at his home on Sunday, June 20, 2021, after a hard-fought battle with a neurodegenerative disease.

Geskeem came to Canada as a young adult. He drove a taxi for a few years, after which he owned several small businesses, in Saint John.

Geskeem had a zest for life, and a way of making others feel welcomed and special. He was very friendly, with a huge heart. He enjoyed cooking gourmet food (and eating any kind of food!), driving nice cars that he would purchase at auction for a good price, and motor boating in local waterways. He enjoyed travelling and helping others...as well as conversation and meals with friends - who were like family. Even during his illness, he was always able to uplift the spirits of those around him, with a joke and a smile.

He deeply understood the preciousness of life and hoped for a day when all of humanity would live peacefully together.

He is predeceased by his parents, many siblings, cousins, aunts, uncles and three nephews. He is survived by his sister Maheen (Amir), many nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews, and his children Meelahn, Ahreeyahn and Jeeyahn.

Arrangements are under the care of Castle Funeral Home, 309 Lancaster Avenue, Saint John, NB E2M 2L3, 506-634-1701. A Celebration of his Life will occur on Wednesday, June 30, 2021, at the Royal Kennebecasis Yacht Club at 1:00 PM. Refreshments and fellowship to follow. Interment will be held at 3:15 PM in Fernhill Cemetery. Donations can be made to the Geskeem Weabury Memorial Bursary at: unb.ca/donate or by phoning 506-453-5053.
