Obituary of Francis Joseph Vessey

It is with heavy hearts that the family of Francis Joseph Vessey wish to announce his passing on Tuesday, June 23, 2020 at Shannex Embassy Hall in Quispamsis. Francis was born on March 12, 1937 in Eldon, PEI to the late Frank and Agatha (Henry) Vessey. In addition to his parents and brothers Alfred and Michael, Francis was predeceased by his beloved wife Ona Marie (Harrington) Vessey in 2012, whom he called “Queenie” and was truly the love of his life. Francis is best known for being a transit driver in Saint John for 38 years, retiring in 2002. He once described himself as a “country boy at heart” who chose to treat others the way he wanted to be treated himself. Francis was genuine, positive and someone who could (and would) talk to anyone. Francis had too many friends to count from the Saint John area, in particular Hillcrest Church where he and his wife served faithfully. Francis will be greatly missed by his only son, Lowell (Kimberley) of Quispamsis, NB; brothers Basil (Marie), Richard and Leonard; sister Josephine (John) MacPherson; sisters-in-law Marie (Alfred) and Callie (Gordon) Cobham; and several nieces and nephews. Castle Funeral Home, Saint John NB, has been entrusted with the arrangements. Due to COVID-19, a Celebration of Life will be announced at a later date. A graveside service will take place in Greenwood Cemetery on July 18, 2020 at 11:00am.
