Obituary of Emilda Martin
It is with great sadness, the family of Emilda “Millie” Mary Martin and wife of the late Joseph Ovide Martin would like to announce her passing on June 5, 2017 at Kings Way Care Centre. Emilda was born on June 8, 1915 in Tignish, PEI to the late Narcisse Perry and Minnie Doucette and was the last living member of her immediate family. Emilda was a lifelong member with the Carleton Branch #2 RCL Auxiliary and later transferred to Branch #69, St. Anne de Beaupré, and Our Lady of the Assumption Senior Citizens Club. Emilda was also an avid knitter and quilter, specializing in crazy patch quilts. She is survived by her son; Tilman Martin (Patricia) of Truro, NS, daughters; Bernadette Cormier (Vic) of Halifax, NS, Anita Doucette of St. Louis, PEI, Loretta Rogers of Saint John, NB, Carolann Martin-Caissie (Alfred) of Wellington, PEI, and Christine Furlong (Wayne) of Rothesay, NB, daughter-in-law; Theresa Martin, as well as 29 grandchildren, 80 great grandchildren, 49 great great grandchildren, 3 great great great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Emilda was predeceased by her husband, parents, sons; Leo and Jerry Martin, brothers; baby Leo Perry, Aubin Perry, Joe Perry, and Leo Perry, sisters; Leonie Gallant and Theresa Perry, great grandchildren; Marissa Gordon, Adam Gordon, and Trina Ellsworth. Arrangements are under the care of Castle Funeral Home, 309 Lancaster Ave. Saint John, N.B. (634 1701). Visitation will be held on Wednesday, June 7, 2017 from 2:00pm – 8:00pm at Castle Funeral Home. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Thursday, June 8, 2017 at 12:00 Noon, at Our Lady of the Assumption Catholic Church. Interment will take place at St. Joseph’s Cemetery following the service. Following the interment, a reception will be held at Castle “Fallsview” reception center.
