Obituary of Cheryl Wilcox

Cheryl Wilcox RN of Saint John, NB, passed away on Sunday, January 13, 2019 at home, with her loving husband by her side. Born in 1940 at Victoria, Carleton Co. NB, she was the daughter of the late Ronald and Leota (Delong) Farnham. Survived by her husband of 56 years, Bernie; one daughter, Stacie (Norbey) of Fredericton; one son Timmy (Courtney) of Timmins, ON ; brother Arlo (Susin) Farnham of Saint John, brother Kevin (Tracey) Farnham of Fredericton; grandchildren Hillary Soontiens, Sophie Soontiens, Logan Wilcox and Conor Wilcox. After graduating from Saint John High School in 1958, Cheryl went into training to be-come a nurse. She graduated in 1961 from the Saint John General Hospital School of Nursing and then married Bernie in 1962. She worked in both the ER and Cardiac Care Units, at the Saint John General Hospital and The Regional. Later she enjoyed caring for seniors at St John & St Stephen Nursing Home until her retirement in 2002. A nurse through and through, Cheryl thrived on taking care of others. She loved her family and the many special dogs that have touched her life. She could be found most days at the Irving Nature Park walking by the ocean with her husband and her beloved dog, Maddie. She will be sadly missed by all. Arrangements are under the care of Castle Funeral Home, 309 Lancaster Avenue, Saint John, NB E2M 2L3 506-634-1701. In keeping with Cheryl’s very private nature and wishes, there will be no visitation or service. In lieu of flowers, memorial tributes may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or the SPCA.
