Obituary of James ‘Jim’ Herbert Stevens

James ‘Jim’ Herbert Stevens passed away peacefully on October 3, 2020 at the Carleton Kirk Nursing Home. Born on January 12, 1934 to the late Louise (Getchell) and Herbert Stevens. Jim is survived by his loving wife of 68 years Marion (Trecartin), sister Joan (Mike) Cadieux, daughter Heather (Sandy) Hansen, son Brian (Karen) Stevens, grandchildren; Jason (Heather), Jamey (Jenn), Jennifer (Harold), and Jodi, four great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. Besides his parents he was predeceased by his son Kevin Stevens and his brother Robert (Marg) Stevens. Jim worked in the trucking business all his life. First for his father then for himself before going to Consolidated Bathurst and retired after working several years for his daughter. He played hockey in his younger years. Jim also played and coached in the River Valley Old Timers Softball League. He loved to spend his weekends camping, boating and snowmobiling with many good friends and family. He was an avid fan of both the Toronto Maple Leafs and the Toronto Blue Jays. Jim always really looked forward to Saturday morning breakfast with his family. The family would like to thank the staff at the Carleton Kirk Nursing Home for the great care they provided Jim with. Arrangements are under the care of Castle Funeral Home, 309 Lancaster Avenue, Saint John, NB, E2M 2L3, 506-634-1701. A Celebration of Jim’s life will be held on Friday, October 9th, 2020 at 2:00 PM in Castle “Fallsview” Chapel. Interment will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers donations to the Carleton Kirk Nursing Home Recreation Department in memory of Jim would be appreciated by the family.
