Dear Florence,
As I put Colin to bed last night, he asked me to rock him and sing "Too-Ra-Loo-Ra-Loo-Ral" (An Irish Lullaby). It was an unusual request, which felt especially touching - and slightly poignant - because yesterday was your birthday. You were always so warm and kind. I think of you often. Rest in peace. Kevin

My sincere condolences to Florence's siblings. Florence was a dedicated and passionate teacher, always concerned for the students' welfare. Nowhere did Florence make her passion for students felt than when the provincial government was going to close down Saint John Vocational School. While the vocational aspect of the trades were closed in the school to accommodate the community colleges' trades programs, the school remained open under a different name and is now Harbourview High School. Florence was also involved in the Assumption parish life in a variety of ways. Florence was among those who spearheaded the establishment of the Assumption Credit Union with her knowledge of bookkeeping and financial matters. This eventually amalgamated with the larger credit union movement as we know it today. Florence was always thoughtful and generous toward me, even though I didn't have her as a teacher. Florence made a positive presence and supported many people about whom we have no knowledge. May Florence rest in peace and have her final reward with God. Requiescat in pace, Florence.

I was sad to hear of Florence's passing. She was a well loved part of Rocmaura for many years and I loved seeing her each time she was in to volunteer. We had the most lovely little chats. Whenever I saw her she was always smiling; I will remember that about her always. We are forever grateful to her for her interest in the Residents of Rocmaura and her selfless giving. She is an example of the goodness in people's hearts and how communities are built.

I was sorry to hear of Florence’s passing. I admired her a great deal and always enjoyed our conversations when we met in the “neighbourhood” and at Romero House. A great woman who will be remembered by many for her kindness and practical caring nature.

Loved celebrating St. Paddy's Day with Florence at her house or with the travelling minstrels known as the "Shamrock Singers" who tried to bring a little Irish cheer to residents of local nursing homes over the years. Remember how Florence loved to decorate and extend the Christmas holiday season well past Epiphany. She had a sharp mind-- a good sport with a fun personality! She will be missed by our family as well as many in the Parish and the West Side in general.
