Obituary of Ferne Patricia Hayden

It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Ferne Patricia Hayden at the Saint John Regional Hospital on May 23, 2018. She was the daughter of William and Daisy (Somerville) Dashwood. She was predeceased by her husband Kenneth and only daughter Margaret (Williams). She will be sadly missed by son James (Jean) of Fredericton and grandchildren Mark (Fredericton), Sarah (Australia), Jill (Derek Estabrook) (Halifax), Adam (Cindy) (New Glasgow, NS) Geoffrey Williams (Baerbel Graf) (Halifax) and Elizabeth Williams (Fadi Alkhatib) (Halifax) and great- grandchildren Hayden and Hannah Estabrook, Em and Zachary Hayden and Sophia, Finnian, Elinor and Felix Williams. Ferne was predeceased by her sisters Daisy (Yorke Murphy), Marion (Walter Cowling), Edna (Frank Sayer), brothers Frank (Alice Stack) and George (Madaline Daye) Ferne was a member of St. Jude’s Anglican Church (Saint John) and was active in church groups. She was a nurse by profession, graduating from Fisher Memorial Hospital (Woodstock, NB). It was here she met her future husband, Kenneth. They enjoyed travelling together and with family and spent the winter months in Florida. Here she was a member of the Florida Museum of the Arts. She enjoyed travelling across Canada, to Europe, China, New Zealand and Australia. She loved curling and golf, was a past president of Westfield Country Club, a charter member of the Carleton Curling Club and a member of the New Brunswick Museum where she was a volunteer for a number of years. She enjoyed playing bridge, being with friends and entertaining. Arrangements are under the care of Castle Funeral Home, 309 Lancaster Ave. Saint John, N.B. (634 1701). A graveside service will be held on Monday, May 28th at 1:30pm in Christ Church Cemetery, Lower Woodstock, NB. A reception will be held following the graveside service at Scott Funeral Home, 815 Main St, Woodstock, NB E7M 2E9, (506)328-3179.The family would like to thank the staff of the Saint John Regional Hospital 5C South for their kindness and compassion to Ferne.
