Obituary of Doris May Nice
It is with great sadness the family announces the passing of Doris May Nice at the Saint John Regional Palliative Care Unit. Doris was the daughter of the late Lillian and Tom Alexander. Doris is the last surviving member of her immediate family. Pre-deceased by her husband, Firth Eldon Nice; sister, Jean Halsall; brother, Leslie Alexander; special close relatives are her sister in law, Maude Nice; brother in law Norman Nice; sister in law, Gloria Nice and special relatives; Gail Weatherhead, Beth Weatherhead, Buddy and Ferna Nice and several nieces and nephews. Doris was the loving wife of Firth Nice for 55 years. She was born in Saint John and was a long standing member of the Carleton Kirk United Church. Her greatest loves were her family and singing. She worked at NBtel for seventeen years before having a family. In the later years, she volunteered at the Food Bank. She was a member of the UCW at the Carleton Kirk United Church and sang in the choir for many years. In her early days she loved to dance and travel with her friends. Doris was a loving mother to; Jill Nice (Brian Wooden), Julie Nice and Grandson Cory Shea. She leaves behind her grandchildren; Chris Shea, Kari Gallant (Josh), Brandon, Tyler, Nathan Laskey, Rachael Wooden, great grand-children; Ethan, Max and Isobel. Special thanks to the wonderful care from Dr. Scott, Kim, Debbie and Joanne over the years. Thanks for the care and compassion from Palliative Care and the excellent support from Dr. England and Dr. Hemmings. Special thanks to her very caring, helpful Extra Mural Nurse, Ralph Johnson over the years. Extra thanks to Marylou, Alissa and Colleen for the excellent care. Arrangements are under the care of Castle Funeral Home, 309 Lancaster Ave. Saint John, N.B. (634 1701). Visitation will take place from the Carleton Kirk United Church on Thursday, May 31 from 11 AM until the funeral service at 12 Noon. Interment will take place immediately after at Greenwood Cemetery. A reception will follow at Castle “Fallsview” Reception Center. Donations to the Carleton Kirk United Church or the charity of the donor’s choice would be appreciated by the family.
