Obituary of Audrey May Iliffe
It’s with a life well lived that the family of Audrey May (Reed) Iliffe announce her passing on Saturday, March 23rd, 2019 at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Audrey was born on November 19, 1922 in Saint John, NB to the late Walter and May (Briggs) Reed. Audrey was a devoted wife, mother and loving grandmother, and great grandmother. She believed in God, His Son, our Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ, and the Holy Spirit and with her husband, raised her family to live life with the same faith. Her family was very important to her. She was never one to complain, was always ready with an encouraging word, had a positive outlook, and a grateful and giving heart, and known for putting the needs of others before her own. Audrey was a gifted water color artist, and she passed this love of painting and her love of music along to her whole family, She took great interest in her Grandson Tim's music and business careers. She loved horses, and in her younger years, often enjoyed horseback riding with her husband and brother. She loved baking, she had a green thumb which helped with her favorite Christmas Cactus blossoming every Christmas, and her thriving African Violets. She also liked playing board games and watching British sitcoms with her family particularly Keeping up Appearances. In recent years Audrey enjoyed being read to often by her son Robert, and her daughter Shirley. She will always be remembered for her love of Christmas, great sense of humor, beautiful smile and bright blue eyes. Audrey will be dearly missed by her children Robert Iliffe and Shirley Downard (Michael), grandson Tim Downard (Tricia), and two great granddaughters Emma Marie Elizabeth Downard and Olivia Audrey May Downard. In addition to her parents, Audrey was predeceased by her loving husband Martin Howard Iliffe and brother Robert Reed. Resting at Castle Funeral Home, 309 Lancaster Ave. Saint John, N.B. (634 1701). Visitation will be held on Thursday, March 28th, 2019 from 2PM-4PM and 6PM-8PM. A Funeral Service will be held at 1:30PM, on Friday, March 29th, 2019 in Castle "Fallsview" Chapel. Interment will follow in Ocean View Memorial Gardens Cemetery. A Reception will be held at Castle “Fallsview” Reception Centre following interment. Donations in Audrey’s memory can be made to the Canadian Heart and Stroke Foundation or the charity of the donor’s choice would be appreciated by the family. Online condolences can be made at www.
