Obituary of Robert Williams
With broken hearts we announce the passing of our beloved husband and father Robert (Bob) Raymond Williams. His wife of 54 years Rhoda Patricia (Hector) and his children Rhonda (Ken) Eveleigh, Norman Williams and Evelyn (Luke) Hatfield lost Dad to a short, hard fought battle with lymphoma on Sunday, October 29th , 2017. Dad was born on March 28th, 1939 in Saint John, NB to Robert B. and Catherine V. (Crilley) Williams. Dad was a true Westsider and a lifelong resident of Milford but also had a fondness for Browns Flat. He was an avid sportsman playing baseball, hockey and bowling in his younger years and hunted and fished most of his life. Before his retirement Dad worked for Equifax for over 30 years. He was a diehard Green Bay Packers fan. Dad often said that he didn’t think it was possible to love anyone as much as his own children but quickly found out that you could when it came to his four adoring grandchildren: Olivia, Ben, Rebecca and Kara. Mourning with us are Dad’s four cherished sisters and their families: Jean (Jerry) Doyle, Marilyn (Percy) Edgecombe, Roseann (George) Melanson and Kathy (Darrell) McLellan. Dad’s nieces, nephews and cousins all had a special place in his heart. One of Dad’s greatest virtues was his ability to make friends become family especially: Leonard, David and Tony Palmer; Jimmy, Carolyn and Fran Glenn and Jeff Donald. There are several others we could mention and you know who you are. In addition to his parents and in-laws, Dad was predeceased by his young sister Elaine, three nephews: Bruce Melanson, Norman Doyle and Stephen Doyle and his best friend Lewis Glenn. Dad never aspired for riches or materials; his enormous wealth came in the form of family, love and friendship. He accomplished the simple things in life as Jesus intended that often evades many of us: all loving, all accepting, and all forgiving, true empathy and kindness for all who knew him. We are profoundly grieving but forever joyful and grateful for Dad’s unconditional and enduring love. We are immensely proud of him. Arrangements are under the care of Castle Funeral Home, 309 Lancaster Ave, Saint John (634-1701). Visitation will be held on Wednesday November 1, 2017 from 2:00PM -8:00PM. A Mass of Christian burial will be held on Thursday, November 2, at 12:00 noon at St. Rose of Lima Church. Interment will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery. A reception will be held at Legion Branch #69 following interment. Donations to the charity of the donor’s choice would be appreciated by the family.
