Obituary of Joy Elizabeth Durant

Joy E. (Martin) Durant passed away peacefully on Monday, May 6, 2019 and was reunited with her loving husband Austin Durant of 55 years. Joy was born on November 1st, 1929 in Montreal, Q.C to the late George and Janet (Donaldson) Martin. Joy was a true Westsider. She met Austin after the war and the rest is history; they married and spent most of their lives raising their family on the Westside. Joy was a homebody; she enjoyed bird watching from the window, journaling and sketching. Joy will be dearly missed her sons; Ricky Durant, Larry Durant, Paul (Kim) Durant, and Bruce (Brenda) Durant; daughters; Karen Durant (Mike Greenlaw) and Cheryl Parsons (Chuck); sister Bonnie Cormier (Jerry); many grandchildren and great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews. Joy is predeceased by her parents, husband, and sons David Durant and Baby Kevin Durant. Resting at Castle Funeral Home, 309 Lancaster Avenue, Saint John, NB E2M 2L3 506-634-1701. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, May 7th from 6:00PM-8:00PM and Wednesday, May 8th from 2:00PM-4:00PM and 6:00PM-8:00PM. A Funeral Service will take place on Thursday, May 9th at 1:00PM in Castle “Fallsview” Chapel. Interment will follow in Ocean View Memorial Gardens Cemetery.
