Obituary of Christine Louise Murray
With profound sadness, the family announces the death of their beloved Mother and Wife, Christine Louise Murray, on September 15, 2018 at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Christine was born in Saint John, N.B. on July 12, 1950 to Gerard Murray and Catherine (Gorman) Murray. Her early years were spent growing up in Portland Place where she made many lasting friendships. Christine is survived by her husband, David Wilson, her cherished daughters, Catherine Little, (Ross), Jennifer Robertson (Trevor McCarthy) and Suzanne (Jeff) Wilson. She is also survived by her adored grand-children, who provided her with great joy: Sarah, Callie, and Brendan Little, Alex McCarthy, and Evan and Matthew Wilson. Christine graduated from Saint John Vocational in the secretarial program in 1969 where she enjoyed playing in the school band. She worked for many years in her field and attended extension courses at NBCC in Moncton. She worked for a time teaching night school at Vocational School and later taught typing at the Saint John campus of NBCC. She served as Vice President and Treasurer for many years with Carleton Legion Branch #2. Christine was awarded the Queen’s Jubilee Medal in 2003, for her many years of work with the Army Cadet League of New Brunswick. For the last several years she worked as secretary for Dr. Brian Garland, where she enjoyed meeting many of her west side neighbors. In addition to her husband and children Christine is survived by her sisters and brothers, Mary Coventry (late Kerry), of Sault Ste Marie, Ont. Pat Murray (Gerry Donovan) Peter Murray (Janice) of Saint John, and Tom Murray (Margaret) of Dartmouth, N.S. as well as many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews and several cousins. Along with her parents, Christine was pre-deceased by her former husband, James (Ootsie) Robertson. Arrangements are under the care of Castle Funeral Home, 309 Lancaster Avenue, Saint John NB, E2M 2L3. (506)799-5699. Visitation will be held on Sunday, September 16th from 6PM-8PM and Monday, September 17th from 2-4 PM and 6-8 PM from Castle Funeral Home. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Tuesday September 18th at 12 PM from Our Lady of Assumption Catholic Church. Interment will follow in Holy Cross Cemetery, with a reception afterward at the Castle Fallsview Reception Centre. Donations in Christine’s memory can be made to Bobby’s Hospice or donor’s choice.
