Obituary of Joseph Francis McGinnis
Joseph Francis McGinnis passed away peacefully at the Saint John Regional Hospital on Tuesday, March 6th, 2018. Born 1949, in Saint John, NB, Joseph was the son of the late Francis and Theresa (O’Neil) McGinnis. Joseph was a loving and devoted father and husband. In his youth, stock car racing, basketball and hockey were his passions. His interest in hockey carried over into mentoring as a coach for the boys teams and cheering on his favorite team, the Boston Bruins, specifically Orr #4. Joe enjoyed hunting at Alfred Bridge’s Camp and spent many years at TNT Campground. He loved visiting relatives in the Miramichi. You could always find Joe having a coffee at Tim Hortons or supporting the Seadogs at their home games. Joe worked at Irving Pulp and Paper on the Westside for over 30 years. Joe is survived by his wife Susan (Dempsey), sons; Robert (Kayla) of Quispamsis, NB, Cody and Justin, both of Saint John, NB, daughter; Vanessa of Saint John, NB, brothers; Richard (Florine) and Donald (Barbara) of Saint John, NB. He will be missed by his two grand-children, Madalyn McGinnis and Celestia Stewart. Resting at Castle Funeral Home, 309 Lancaster Ave. Saint John, N.B. (634-1701). Visitation will be held Sunday, March 11, 2018, from 2 to 4 pm and 6 to 8 pm. A mass of funeral service will be held from Our Lady of Assumption Catholic Church on Monday, March 12th 2018, at 12 noon, with interment at Holy Cross Cemetery. A reception will follow at the Castle Funeral Home, Fallsview Reception Centre. Donations to the Canadian Diabetes Association or Donor’s choice would be appreciated by the family.
