Obituary of Debra Ann Gogan

After a long battle with cancer, Debra Ann Gogan passed peacefully with her family at her side at the Saint John Regional Hospital on Tuesday, February 27, 2018. Born on January 7, 1955, in Saint John, NB Debra was the daughter of the late Edgar Joseph and Eva Marie (Daigle) Gogan. Debra was a true Westsider and lifelong member of St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church. She worked for the N.B. Liquor Corporation for over 30 years, and was a very active member of C.U.P.E #963 NB Liquor Workers Local serving as Treasurer. She was also a long-time member of the Legion branch #69, Denis Morris Community Centre and the MacDougall Lake Camper’s Association. Debra is survived by her beloved son, Jeremy Hayward (Patti Giberson), of Edmonton, Alberta, three brothers, Paul Gogan (Suzanne), and Ronald Gogan (Pat) both of Saint John, and Dan Gogan (Karen), of Quispamsis, two grandchildren, Eva Hayward, and John Hayward, both of Edmonton, Alberta, and several nieces and nephews. A heartfelt thanks to all of those who helped care for my mother during her time of illness. Being so far away in Alberta, it was a comfort knowing that she was cared for by so many. Resting at Castle Funeral Home, 309 Lancaster Ave. Saint John, N.B. (634-1701). Visitation will be held Thursday evening, March 1, 2018, from 6 to 8 pm, and Friday, March 2, 2018, 2 to 4 pm and 6 to 8 pm. A Mass of Christian burial will be held on Saturday, March 3, 2018, at 10:00 am from St. Rose of Lima Church. Interment will take place at Holy Cross Cemetery. A reception will be held at Denis Morris Community Center following the burial. Donations to the Canadian Cancer Society or the Canadian Cystic Fibrosis Foundation would be appreciated by the family.
