Obituary of Mary Ann Gionet
A life well-lived- Mary Ann Gionet passed away peacefully at the Saint John Regional on Monday, December 16th, 2019 surrounded by loved ones at the age of 94. Mary assisted our troops in WWII, she helped build airplanes during the war. After the war she joined the Ladies Auxiliary Royal Canadian Legion Branch #69, becoming Sargent of Arms and was a proud member for 50 years. Mary loved dancing, travelling with her sisters to Quebec, gardening and playing bingo. Mary is survived by her five children; Henry (Marg), John (Rhanda), Paul, David and Joann (Troy), grandchildren; Aimee, Nicole, Robyn, David, Michelle, Myra, Shania, Elysia, Chantelle, Jean Paul and Stephen, seven great grandchildren, many nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews. Mary is predeceased by her parents and husband Martin Gionet in 2009. She was the last surviving member of her many brothers and sisters. Resting at Castle Funeral Home, 309 Lancaster Avenue, Saint John, NB E2M 2L3. Visitation will take place on Thursday, December 19th from 2:00 PM – 4:00 PM and 6:00 PM – 8:00 PM. A Ladies Auxiliary Royal Canadian Legion Branch #69 Tribute Service will take place on Thursday, December 19th at 7:00 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held from Our Lady of the Assumption Catholic Church on Friday, December 20th at 10:00 AM. Interment will follow in Ocean View Memorial Gardens Cemetery, with a reception afterwards at the Royal Canadian Legion Branch #69. Donations in Mary’s memory can be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation, Diabetes Canada, or the charity of the donor’s choice.
