Obituary of Shirley Agnes Robinson

With sorrow, we announce the passing of Shirley Agnes Robinson (Nee MacIsaac) on April 30, 2018. Until her passing she resided at Carleton Kirk Nursing Home in Saint John, NB. Shirley was born in Glenwood, PEI on October 22, 1929. She grew up in rural PEI during The Depression and although she moved to Saint John in the 1950’s, she never forgot her island roots. She loved to tell stories of picking potatoes in the fall in order to earn money to buy new clothes for school. She also loved to dance; in her youth step dancing in community halls all over Western PEI and in her later years at the Sunday Night Dances at Branch #69 Legion. She was a long- time member of the Legion Ladies’ Auxiliary. Shirley trained as a practical nurse at Falconwood Hospital, PEI graduating in 1949. She subsequently moved to Saint John where she married and started a family. She returned to nursing in 1961 and continued working until her retirement in 1994. Shirley leaves to mourn her loss; son Paul (Joan Letoureau) Ottawa, Ontario and daughter Heather Vancouver, BC. Two granddaughters: Mariah (Ottawa) and Catherine (Vancouver). Also mourning are her sister Phyllis Pearson, Halifax, NS, brothers Gerald MacIsaac, Summerside PEI and John MacIsaac, Saint John, NB, numerous nephews and nieces. She is predeceased by her parents Julia and Neil MacIsaac, sisters Audrey (in childhood), Doris Stewart; Jean Stewart; Norma MacIsaac and brother Reginald MacIsaac. We are grateful to the staff of the Carleton Kirk Nursing Home for the care and compassion shown to our mother. Arrangements are under the care of Castle Funeral Home, 309 Lancaster Ave. Saint John, N.B. (634 1701). Visitation will take place on Friday, May 4, from 6-8PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, May 5th at 10am at Our Lady of Assumption Church. Interment will take place at a later date. Online condolences can be made at www. Castlefh.com
