Obituary of Robert Frank Epton
It is with great sadness the family of Robert Frank Epton wish to announce his passing on Sunday September 13, 2020 at the Saint John Regional Hospital with his family by his side. Born in Ottawa, Ontario in 1932 Robert was a son of the late Nancy Epton, and the widower of the late Lillian Frances Epton. Robert started his career in law enforcement with the RCMP in 1951, and after leaving the RCMP in 1955, settled in Saint John, N.B. where he met the love of his life Lillian Thomas.Robert joined the Saint John Police Force in June 1961 and as a member of the force attended the Canadian Police College in Ottawa, The Atlantic Police Academy in P.E.I., and also the FBI National Academy, in Quantigo Virginia USA. Robert rose through the ranks with the SJPF and after a 35 year career, retired at the rank of Inspector in 1996. Robert was also active in the Masonic Lodge, the Luxor Temple Shriners Association and Lancaster Minor Hockey. Robert is survived by his brother Richard Epton, of Ottawa, his two sons, David Epton (Susan Beaudin), of Quispamsis, and Doug Epton, of Saint John, N.B., daughter in law, Susan Epton, of Saint John, two grandchildren, Jennifer Quintana, and Robert “Bobbie” Epton both of Saint John, Three great grandchildren (Jacob, Emma, and Sayde), and several nieces and nephews. Robert was predeceased by his Mother Nancy, Wife Lillian, and sister, Marg Rich, and his great granddaughter Rebekah. Resting at Castle Funeral Home, 309 Lancaster Ave. Saint John, N.B. (634 1701). Visitation will be held on Thursday September 17, 2020 from 2 to 4 pm and 6 to 8 pm. A Funeral service will take place on Friday September 18, 2020 at 11:00AM. Interment will take place in Greenwood Cemetery. A reception will be held at Castle Funeral Home following the burial. Donations to the SPCA would be appreciated by the family.
