Obituary of Douglas Arnold Belding

It is with great sadness that the family announce the passing of Douglas Arnold Belding, which occurred April 1st, 2019 at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Born February 8th, 1941, in Saint John, NB, the son of the late Arnold and Maisie (Stokes) Belding. Doug was a commercial lobster fisherman and resided in Chance Harbour all his life. He served on several Boards and Associations related to the fishing industry over the years. Had a passion for politics and current events. Doug enjoyed socializing with friends and acquaintances in and around his community, meeting new people, country jamborees, fiddling shows, long Sunday drives to nowhere. He attended Seaside Baptist Church in Dipper Harbour. Doug was pre-deceased by his parents, brothers; Earl, Brian, sister; Phyllis. Survived by his loving wife Linda (Weir), married 53 years, sons; Thomas, Jason (Lisa), Kirk, Wallace, Doug (Saba), daughter; Christine, brothers; Eric, David (Karen), Mark, sisters; Beverley, Colleen (Jim) Trynor. Blessed with grandchildren; Jordan (Letecia), Josh, Dale Erhardt, Jessica (Sean) Block, Justin (Courtney), Sarah, Thane (Tish), several great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Many thanks to the doctors, nurses and paramedics involved in Dougs care over the last five years. Arrangements are under the care of Castle Funeral Home, 309 Lancaster Ave., Saint John, NB E2M 2L3 506-634-1701. A visitation will take place at Castle Funeral Home on Wednesday, April 3 from 5-9 PM. A funeral service will take place at the Castle Funeral Home chapel on Thursday, April 4 at 2:00 PM with burial to follow at Chance Harbour Cemetery.
