Obituary of Myrna Elizabeth Smith

Surrounded by family, Mrs. Myrna Elizabeth Smith passed away peacefully at Ridgewood Veteran’s Wing on Tuesday November 13, 2018. Born September 20, 1933 in Saint John N.B., Myrna was a daughter of the late John H. and Minnie V. (Allaby) Oram, and wife of the late James Daniel Smith. In her earlier years, Myrna joined the Royal Canadian Airforce, then she became employed with the Canadian Corps of Commissionaires of New Brunswick at the old D.V.A. and the Saint John General Hospital until her retirement. She was an avid Dart player, and had belonged to several Dart Leagues, she was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch #69, also she was a member of the Westside Senior’s club. Myrna loved to spend time at the family camp in Loch Alva. Myrna is survived by her beloved sons, John Robert (Ethel) Smith, of Saint John, N.B., David Wayne Smith, of Perth Andover, N.B., and daughter Colleen Bonnie Smith, of Bathurst N.B, a sister, Doreen Rankin, of Sussex, N.B., Sister in law, Betty (Robert “Buck”) Smith, of Saint John, N.B., Seven Grandchildren, Seven Great Grandchildren, several nieces and nephews. Myrna was predeceased by her parents, her husband, James Daniel Smith, and daughters, Deborah Ann Smith and Cathy Smith. Castle Funeral Home, 309 Lancaster Ave, Saint John, N.B., (634 1701). A visitation will be held Thursday, November 15, 2018 from 6:00 to 8:00 pm. A Memorial service will be held at Castle “Fallsview” Chapel on Friday November 16, 2018 at 11:00 am.
