Obituary of Arsene Joseph Vautour
It is with heavy hearts the family of Arsene Joseph Vautour announce his passing on October 24th, 2018 at the Saint John Regional Hospital while surrounded by his children. He was the loving husband of the late Ernestine (Richard) Vautour. Arsene was born on July 5, 1927 to the late Joseph and Eugenie (Bordage) Vautour. Arsene spent his career working for the Westside Irving Pulp and Paper Mill as a carpenter. He was a true westsider; every year he would build a rink in the family’s yard and it would become a gathering place for Westside community. He was a long-time member of Our Lady of Assumption Church as well as the Knights of Columbus. Arsene was also an outdoors man, he raised Christmas Trees and was an avid fisher and hunter. He will be dearly missed by his children; Yvon (Pam) Vautour, Vincent (Monica) Vautour, Omer (Linda) Vautour, Linda Breau, Doris Taylor, Gloria Driscoll (Peter), brothers; Leo, Fernand, Robert, Roger, Paul and Norbert, sisters; Idora, Rita, Yvette, Jeanette and Sylvina, 11 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren, many nieces and nephews, and special friend Elsie Gillcrist. Arsene is predeceased by his parents, wife Ernestine, son Gilles, brothers; Laurie, Emile and George and sister Yvonne. Arrangements are under the care of Castle Funeral Home, 309 Lancaster Avenue, Saint John, NB E2M2L3. 506-634-1701. Visitation will be held on Sunday, October 28th from 2PM-8PM at Castle Funeral Home. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Monday, October 29th 2018 at 10AM at Our Lady of Assumption Catholic Church. Interment will follow in Holy Cross Cemetery. A reception will then be held at the Assumption Centre on 721 Chapel Street. Donations in Arsene’s memory can be made to the Loch Lomond Villa Foundation, Bobby’s Hospice or the charity of the donor’s choice. Online condolences can be made at www.castlefh.com.
