Corrine was my Aunt and Godmother. Corrine was incredibly close to her sisters, she loved her children and grandchildren dearly. I don’t remember her ever making herself a priority, it was always family first. She was completely selfless. She took my mother in (her sister Shirley) and cared for her while she was dying of cancer. She had so much heartache in the last 5 years; losing her husband Jimmy, not long after her son Bryan, and then having to leave her home due to the progression of a horrible incurable disease. I can’t imagine how devastating the last five years had been for her. I do have cherished memories of time spent with her these last 5 years, some visits and many phone calls. She always asked how I was doing and was genuinely concerned about any issues I had, which were so negligible in comparison to hers. The phone calls always lasted longer than expected, her voice always betrayed her dire existence. I know she was ready to leave this world after losing Jimmy, Bryan, her health and lastly her home. Her loss makes all of us who loved her sad, but we also feel some elation as her life in the end was a life of suffering. I like to imagine she is having a reunion right now with Jimmy, Bryan, my mom, her parents, her brother Charles, her niece Lisa and nephew Darren.
