Obituary of Donville Emery Cormier
Born August 20, 1926. It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Donville Emery Cormier, with his family by his side at the Saint John Regional Hospital on July 17, 2017 at the age of 90. Donville was the son of the late William and Bertha (McCullum) Cormier, and the beloved husband of the late Vivian Teresa (Ervin) Cormier. Donville was also predeceased by his daughter Doreen, son David (Tiny), grandson Jason Gates, brothers Earle, Jonny, Malcom, Robert, Berchum, Hartley, William, and sister Bonny (Cudie) Foster. He survived by his daughter Diane of Saint John, son Donville Jr. (Dianne) of Prince of Wales, Son Danny (Barbara Norden ) of Saint John, daughter Shirley of Saint John, and daughter in law Becky Cormier of Lepreau. Six grandchildren: Robby Gates (Heather), Stacey Gilmore (Roy), Donnie Cormier (Angela), Michael Cormier, Neil Cormier and Billi-Jo McKinnon-Yelle. He also had 10 great grandchildren: Megan, Kristen, Natasha, Briar, Douglas, Blake, Brooke, Paige, Kaleb, and Lauren as well as many nieces and nephews. Donville was a member of ILA Local 273 Longshore man for over 40 years and was a Commercial fisherman for over 40 years. Donville continued to fish the Saint John River for most of his life up until 2 years ago catching shad and gaspereau. Aside from his wife Vivian and his family Donville’s greatest love was the great outdoors. Hunting and fishing with his son’s, his grandson’s and off on his own up until the time of his passing brought him many years of great joy. Spending time at the hunting camp on the Old Detour Road and popping in to visit the boys was his favorite thing to do. Since he was a young boy, Donville enjoyed spending the summers at Barnaby’s Head (New River Beach/Haggerty’s Cove). He would continue to bring his own family there every summer for over 70 years, where they still continue this tradition today. Arrangements are under the care of Castle Funeral Home, 309 Lancaster Ave. Saint John, N.B. (634 1701). Visitation will take place on Thursday, July 20, 2017 from 2:00 PM- 4:00PM and 6:00PM- 8:00PM. A funeral service will be held on Friday, July 21, 2017 at 11:00AM. Interment will take place at Greenwood Cemetery. A reception will follow at Castle “Fallsview” Reception Center. Donations to Bobby’s Hospice or the charity of the donor’s choice would be appreciated by the family. Online condolences can be made at www. Castlefh.com
